When I step onto my mat, the feeling of peace starts to settle in; nothing else matters now but this very moment...... I have been practicing yoga since 2004 and fell in love with it immediately. I am constantly amazed at all the benefits yoga has to offer, overall creating a balanced life – not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. My passion for yoga led me to wanting to share it with others.
I believe that Yoga can be practiced anywhere, anytime and by anyone; regardless of size, age, or mobility. Many of us feel that we can't, aren't able, haven't...etc. But yoga is not about flexibility or getting into that funky pose. It's about being in the moment, using our breath to create balance and awareness in ourselves.
Melissa is registered with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and with Yoga Alliance as E-RYT 500 & Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). Her offerings include Hatha (all-levels), Core Restore, Therapeutic, Yoga & Mobility, Prenatal & Postnatal.
She offers workshops such as Yoga for Pelvic Health as well as Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Training throughout the year. She also providesspecialized Yoga Day Retreats as a space for people to relax, recharge and reconnect.
As a Yoga Therapist, Melissa works one-on-one with clients on issues such as chronic pain, pelvic dysfunction in men & women, Diastasis Recti and C-section recovery, stress, anxiety, depression, and other health conditions such as Lyme disease, Fibromyalgia and MS. Her training includes Yoga for Pain Care with Neil Pearson, cancer, depression & anxiety, heart disease and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
Melissa teaches with compassion and humour and offers a supportive and welcoming environment for all students and clients. She offers modifications for all levels and abilities and loves when someone finds that ah-ha moment! With breath centered awareness, she encourages people to find their balance between effort and ease, doing and doing nothing. Her classes reflect her warm and playful spirit!
