The quote "your health is an investment" is an understatement! It rings especially true during times when we can feel a little more stressed or run down such as after the holidays, having the winter blues or I don't know, a pandemic? Like many of us, we sometimes need reminders to take care of ourselves, to recharge and to nourish ourselves. I know for myself, if I wait too long, I will start to burn out or a good ole cold will come along and force me to rest!
Here are 3 other reasons to "invest in yourself":
Research shows that when you invest in yourself, you're making a commitment and will likely follow through
Saves you money (especially when there's incentive!)
Because I miss you when you're not there!

I've certainly had my own inner battles with things like parenting, relationships with myself and others, work & study, and trying to do it all. Not to mention the pandemic. When we first went into isolation, I had dreamt up many goals for myself. And it actually looked fairly promising in the first ummmm..... few days. But then I crashed. Like literally laid on the couch and gave up.
As I lay there , I remembered a quote I had recently read: "THIS IS WHY WE DO YOGA"
6 simple little words that reminded me that "No, we can't control everything". It reminded me why I fell in love with yoga and why I became a teacher. That yoga isn't always about movement or postures. Sometimes it is so sweet and simple as sitting quietly. Those simple words that remind us to: Let Go. Accept what is. To trust. Be present BREATHE....
I hope you can take time for yourself today to just BREATHE....

Thank you Melissa! When you corrected my posture yesterday at some point during the moon salutation, something somehow clicked into place and I felt this wonderful line of energy and great feeling of stretching running from the back of my heels and up my legs, along my back and down to my fingertips--it really felt amazing!

Hi Melissa, just a quick note to express my thanks for your yoga teachings. I am under an unusual amount of stress and simply hearing your voice in my head saying 'think about your breath. Are you breathing?", has reminded me to do that check in. And the stretching has been awesome....and i can hold a plank...and i could go on. But simply, thank you......

Hi Melissa, I just wanted to say thank you for our Thursday prenatal yoga class...its my first time doing yoga and Thursday is the highlight of my week! This is my second pregnancy and im finding it more challenging physically....my sciatica is hurting my lower back. Since starting yoga last week, I did some of the stretches you showed us, almost every night before bed and sometimes in the morning and it has really made a difference in the way I have been feeling. So thanks again! G.

I love the soothing atmosphere and how relaxed the classes make me feel. I always look forward to Thursdays just because of my yoga class. I like how open everyone is and how they share their experiences or moods. I also like that the classes are not too repetitive but not too complicated either.

I really loved the first session. Classes were varied and information that was shared was always interesting and pertinent. The atmosphere was also relaxing and a nice pause I could look forward to during the week. Loved learning about the moves you can do with a partner, it would be nice to try those again, and same with the tennis balls movements!

I've attended several of Melissa's classes including warm flow and core yoga. She is one of the best teachers around. She is very engaged and really cares about her students. The only criticism I have is that once, during a Yin pose, I looked at my watch and she walked over and took it off my wrist. Otherwise, no complaints.

Your knowledge on pelvic floor & diastasis is a big asset! I feel like there is a real focus in your class on improving strength/flexibility and repairing the body after pregnancy/childbirth, and I'm getting a bit of a workout, which makes it worth it for me to carve time in my weekly schedule for your class! I also appreciate all of your tips for avoiding injury etc, - I'm sure you saved me from ab separation! I also like the times where we incorporated baby in some of the moves. It's nice to engage them.

I had several yoga therapy sessions with you where we incorporated prenatal yoga. I just wanted to say a big thank you for the strategies you provided. I practised daily before giving birth and they made my whole labour process easier and faster. My whole labour lasted 4 hours without using epidural and ended with no stitches. All I used to help myself deal with the pain was breathing, yoga, exercise ball and a tens machine. Thank you!

I just want to let you know how much I enjoy coming to your classes. It is a great way to forget about worries since I’m too busy trying to breathe and not fall on my butt. I love how you give alternate poses for those of us with injuries and weak core strength. You are a lot of fun and an exceptional teacher.
I have seen improvement in my body, I’m able to stretch more, I’m not as in much pain, feel more stable, so I know it works! Thank you!!
